Mission

Founded in 2021, the Mikayla Newton Foundation strives to turn students into journalists. At our core, we are dedicated to empowering the next generation of journalists. Our nonprofit organization provides aspiring storytellers—especially those from underrepresented communities—with the tools, training, and opportunities they need to thrive in today’s evolving media landscape.

Through hands-on workshops, mentorship programs, scholarships, and real-world reporting experiences, we aim to break down barriers and open doors for young people passionate about journalism. Whether they dream of anchoring the evening news, producing documentaries, or writing for digital platforms, we help them build a solid foundation and find their voice in the newsroom and beyond.
